Black Starliner is built on a black welded steel ‘wire frame’ structure, covered with panels of woven and sculpted galvanised steel fencing-wire made by street wire artists, and contains plastic jerry-cans, wooden marimba notes, mechanical strikers and electronic circuitry, and a sound system with speaker cabinetry, amplifier and FX units. It is six metres long and weighs 500 kilograms, and it can hang suspended from a single steel cable, as it did exhibited in the atrium of the Zeitz MOCAA.
