SOUND

The heart of the sculpture’s sound system is a rotating oil drum, pierced with a pattern of holes through which light shines, and which sequences a series of mechanical strikers to play a range of notes and sounds from found and fabricated objects, amplified through FX units and a speaker array. The song encoded into the pattern of holes on the oil drum is a version of the track ‘Black Star Liner in Dub’ (1976) by Fred Locks.
